In late 2021, AREA Ruhr started an annual event called “AREA Tag” (AREA Day) which seeks to explore traces of East Asia in North Rhine-Westphalia (“Auf den Spuren Ostasiens in NRW”) and to introduce them to a general audience. Since then, the event has included lectures, a guided museum tour, and a cultural experience day.
AREA Day 2024 – Taiwan
We are pleased to announce that this year’s AREA Day will take place on 9 November 2024 in the Uni-Forum Ost (UFO) venue at Ruhr University Bochum. With our co-organizer Taiwanherz, we will offer a diverse programme that will focus on Taiwan’s rich culture and show you how much Taiwan there is to discover in NRW. The event will also introduce the “Taiwan as a Pioneer” (TAP) reserach project conduct at the AREA site OAW/Bochum.
Under the slogan “Culture, Cuisine & Community” the event programme offered will furthermore consist of Taiwanese culinary delights including bubble tea and numerous workshops and hands-on activities: from calligraphy, martial arts and ceramic painting to Chinese chess, mahjongg, Taiwanese indigenous culture and a choir.
For some workshops we will only be able to accomodate a limited number of participants. Corresponding tickets will be released on our website on 19 October 2024. The exact time will be announced in the coming weeks along with the full programme. New information about AREA Day will be updated here.
