AREA Ruhr International Research Fellow Prof. Fujihara Tatsushi participated in Workshop on Environmental Histories

On 30 September 2024, our International Research Fellow Prof. Fujihara Tatsushi participated in a Workshop on “Natural Resources and Human Societies in East and West: Early Modern and Modern Environmental Histories from Japan and Germany” at the Deutsches Bergbaumuseum in Bochum. He gave a presentation on “Rice Breeding in the Japanese Empire” and joined a roundable discussion on “Environmental Histories in Germany and Japan” with Prof. Watanabe Koichi (National Institute of Japanese Literature, Tokyo), Prof. Tina Asmussen and Prof. Frank Uekötter (both RUB).
