In the AREA Ruhr Guest Lecture Series two lectures were successfully held online as webinars in late June and early July 2020. This format was chosen due to public health concerns and travel restrictions during the Corona pandemic.
Prof. Tracy Miller (Vanderbilt University, Nashville, USA) gave a presentation on Creativity, Geometry, and Generative Design in the Architecture of Medieval Chinese Buddhism, while Dr. Henrik Sørensen (CERES Ruhr University Bochum) gave insights into his research on Dunhuang as Sacred Space: On the History and Formation of a Major Religious Site in Eastern Central Asia. We thank both presenters for their stimulating talks as well as the audience of about 30 participants for their interesting questions that inspired the discussion.
