Jihoon Chun participated in the Association for Asian Studies 2021 Annual Conference as panel organiser and paper presenter for the organised panel session titled “New Architects of Empire: Reconfiguring Sovereignty and Authority in Nineteenth-Century East Asia”.

He gave a presentation titled “Defenders of a Confucian Empire Confronted with ‘Public Law of All Nations’: Qing-Chosŏn Negotiated Sovereignty and Protectorate During 1882–1895”.

11 March 2021 

An Huy Tran participated in an academic round-table discussion on the topic of “Masculinities in East Asia”. The event was organized by Tokyo College, the University of Tokyo and took place on 11 March 2021, 10:00 am (German time) or 6:00 pm (Japan Time). 

This event brought together early career scholars in humanities and social sciences to discuss their work, comparative and transnational perspectives, and current topics in the study of masculinities in East Asia. A 60 minute conversation was followed by a Q&A session with the audience.

An Huy Tran participated in the International Online Symposium “On the Boundaries of Here and Now”, organized by the Department of Asian and North African Studies at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. He gave a presentation on “The Boundaries of Transnational Sexual Mobilities: Male Vietnamese Migrants in Japan”.
